Great rod for kids I purchased this pole combo for my 8-year-old fishergirl daughter. Before giving it to her, I spray painted the rod purple so that it would be “girlie” and make her happy. She loves it. She was also *thrilled* to have her own mini tackle box. I had no idea that would make her so happy, so I’m planning to upgrade from this tiny plastic box to a larger box with a handle, just for her. Great rod for big kids We took this rod to Colorado for my 5 yr. old and caught a 16″ trout the first day. He can cast and reel in all by himself. Excellent! THe only trouble was that after a few days of constant use the handle for reeling in fell off (and unfortuantly into the water) So make sure to tighten the screw after a few uses. otherwise perfect for the price!
5 stars for Zebco Customer Service when reel broke I ordered this for my son’s 5th birthday, and it was the perfect pole for him. It would be good for a novice adult as well. It’s not a tiny pole….it’s a decent size, but not too long. We used it 3 times, and on the 3rd time it broke. The button wouldn’t work. It wouldn’t even push down. My husband tried to take it apart and fix it, and was unsuccessful. My son was under full adult supervision all 3 times, and I do not think he had any fault in it. He can cast as well as I can. I…
