A really good rod, with a so-so reel I like my Ugly Stik rods. Two days ago, I bought the 6′ two piece Ugly Stik BX2 Spinning Combo, Medium action. I loaded it with 12# test monofilament and could cast a 5/16 oz spinner 50-60′ and a 3/8 oz lure 60-70′. I hooked a 33″ Coho salmon today, which fought for 12 minutes before we brought it in and released it. It didn’t overtax the rod, nor did the rod seem too powerful for the fish.
