The size is absolutely perfect for my use. The backbone is strong and very flexible. The handle fits my medium-large hands just right. I can cast almost perfectly every time. I chose the Medium action, 6′ 6″ length for versatility. It holds my Shimano 2500 spinning reel very securely. My retired Abu Garcia is laid to rest after many years of faithful fish gathering.   2. Great Rod! Excellent rod to have in your bass fishing arsenal. I purchased the 6′-6″ medium action rod and I am very pleased with it. The rod has great feel and action to it. The only negative to this pole is that when I received it, the eye holes were bent a little ( most likely from shipping ), but other than that the pole is fantastic! If you have an original Ugly Stik, you will love the upgraded new version!!

  3. A good update. I have never been a fan of Ugly stik. I found them too heavy and limp, until now. Shakespeare did a very good job with the gx2. It’s lighter and has more backbone. I own rods more expensive than this but I find myself liking the Ugly more. My Shimanos are lighter and stiffer but I like the gentle flex of the Ugly, there is something about it that just feels right. I have the 6″6′ Medium version and couldn’t be happier for the price.
