A good update. I have never been a fan of Ugly stik. I found them too heavy and limp, until now. Shakespeare did a very good job with the gx2. It’s lighter and has more backbone. I own rods more expensive than this but I find myself liking the Ugly more. My Shimanos are lighter and stiffer but I like the gentle flex of the Ugly, there is something about it that just feels right. I have the 6″6′ Medium version and couldn’t be happier for the price. The backbone is strong and very flexible. The handle fits my medium-large hands just right. I can cast almost perfectly every time. I chose the Medium action, 6′ 6″ length for versatility. Great Rod! Excellent rod to have in your bass fishing arsenal. I purchased the 6′-6″ medium action rod and I am very pleased with it. The rod has great feel and action to it. The only negative to this pole is that when I received it, the eye holes were bent a little ( most likely from shipping ), but other than that the pole is fantastic! If you have an original Ugly Stik, you will love the upgraded new version!!
