100 + update update…10ft spinning rod works great …still cast great. I paired the rod with a Penn Battle 6000 for Pier fishing and a Shimano Saragosa 8000 for the surf.. I caught a nice 20 inch striper from the pier . it was like bringing in a perch!
Yipee – Yahoo This is an awesome surf rod. Trying to balance the toughness of a graphite with the sensitivity of glass is tough, but Penn has done it. This rod is powerful and tough and I was able to cast a 4oz weight around 100 yards with no problem. Penn Prevail is my surf rod of choice in the future. I will be replacing my others in the near future as well as purchasing a 12′ model to go with the new Penn Spinfisher 8500 I’m getting.
