Cute, but when how often am I on mountaintops? I bought these for my 9 year old daughter to use with her friends and also so I can communicate with her when she is playing outside. These are cute and work fine. However, buyers should be aware that you get less than mile range in an urban area. The 16-mile range only applies from mountaintop to mountaintop. In an urban area, the package states a range of up to .7 miles. I tested this in Brooklyn where they have about a 1/2 city block range–maybe a block if both people are outside.
Great Radios These radios were great! What I loved most was first the range that these could cover. The box stated 16 miles (though around me I was not able to get coverage that far due to the terrain), but even more so was the overall small size of the radios themselves. When hiking with my eldest daughter this allowed us to wander a bit away from each other and still stay in touch and with how small they were it was easy to be able to carry these in our pockets so they were definitely not bulky in any…
